About Us

From 1965 to 1974 it was called WKAU-AM 1050 & WVLE FM 104.9.  Programming was 50s, 60s, 70s, and Top 40.

In 1974, they became WKAU 1050 AM - 105 FM, thus 105 KAU ROCKIN STEREO

BJ Crocker was Program Director - Afternoon Drive; Big Steve Baily - Middays; Jack Coffee - Mornings; John VanEss - 6pm - 11pm; John Mitchell - overnights.

Bill Day had a morning talk show and did news with Ken Richards.  When Bill retired, Eileen Eisenberg was hired for news with Ken.

I am John VanEss...with the Top 3 Countdown at 10:00pm and the nightly Stairway to Heaven about 10:10pm (best song every performed by the way).

My name is John Verbeten

I recently lost my wife Theresa to cancer and a couple of my friends decided to build me a studio in our spare room.  Vern Schmitt and Jim Rammer decided I needed a hobby to pull me out of my funk.  We tried the "over the air" route first, but that turned into a nightmare.  The Internet looked like it was the way to go, so here we are with "I-105 WKAU" (I for internet).

I've lived in Little Chute my whole married life so I thought this would be the place to be.  We always supported the local events like Middle School Sports, Jets football, High School athletics, St. John Nepomucene Parish, the Great Wisconsin Cheese Fest, the Spierings Foundations, ROCK CANCER, and let's not forget the Little Chute Historical Society, and Little Chute's beautiful windmill.

We are a non-profit radio station, strictly for entertainment, and to keep our listeners informed.  When things get up and rolling, we would love to spread our wings out to the rest of the communities to help where we can.  I feel it would be only right to honor my old alma Mater WKAU with the professional integrity of the past and a strong "world wide" signal.
